Ask DN: What Is The Best Mobile Shopping Experience?

7 years ago from

I’m researching the native mobile shopping experience and need some guidance and suggestions for specific apps to try. Which apps would you say have the best native mobile shopping experience?

I feel strange saying this, but Alibabas app for iOS is really good. And they have the fastest purchasing flow (when you have saved your credit card).

This will probably be ironic for you to read Joe Blau, but... Amazon. Touch ID to login, sync'ed cart, sensible IA, good ergonomics... really nice IMO. My only nit-picky thing with Amazon's app is the menus are kinda janky on iOS, but they are big / lots of options so I'm sure I could do it better but that's just my gut reaction and one man's opinion :)

Overall, when I read the question my first thought was - "which app do I convert the most on on mobile?" and my answer was "Amazon." Others that I frequently convert on (and enjoy) are EAT24 (food shopping), GILT and Apple's Store app.

That's not too ironic. I also think Amazon's mobile shopping experience is really good. A lot of the benefits from the mobile experience are powered by our power backend infrastructure. Your first thought was correct; my original question had a lot more parts to it, but my goal was to ask something simple and the feedback has been excellent.

Jet's is good if only because the cart is synced between the app and site automagically. Other than that, the seamlessness of Uber, et al is fantastic.
