Silly title, great article.
Some good points there re iOS7+ usability, except that I don't understand:
why would anyone want to refer to 30(?) years old HIG when discussing such a young and different platform as iOS. Not even the H in the HIG is the same anymore. It's only at the very beginning of its evolution and still has go through its own brushed metal and aqua buttons nonsense as well...
is it just me or that blog is not legible on a phone? In 2015? Preaching about usability? B)

Many of Apple’s own ideas, standard widgets and design language has been carried through from the original Macintosh to the iPhone. Touch is different to mouse and keyboard input in many significant ways, but some of the rules are identical. I think it’s totally fine to reference the original HIG.
Not even the H in the HIG is the same anymore.
It’s not human for both?

Brushed metal was pretty ugly, but still worked the same as prior versions, with respect to affordances and obviousness. I liked Aqua. Far better than the blur nonsense we’re enduring now.
The video at the end is quite poignant.
First. Legit article. Thanks for sharing.
