Hello, author here, just uploaded a sample sketch file so that we can test the plugin easily! http://magicmirror.design/#usage
The link seems to be down :(
Right, Cloudly said it's drawing too much attention and deleted my files. I've fixed all the links :)
This is pretty cool, I can think of situation you need to use this without doing fancy perspective.
Now I don't have to rasterize those overlays to keep the size down when I work with overlays in sketch. I can keep a 1 actual artboard for the content in the back without using symbols now. Keep file size down and less of those finicking selecting the wrong element.
I know symbols are create for smaller element module like buttons and navigation bar. But this can help in situation where you don't need to make the changes like an image component layered with a titl. So now I can use an artboard to construct that and swap out the image and compose them without a huge overhead of replicating the same component with a 700kb image. The only down side I can think of is that you can't really pair it with stuff like zeplin when you do this.
I think the tool is amazing, it's up to you to think how you can apply it in your process. Thanks James, you really earn yourself an extra coffee from me. :)
The overlays use case is a great one. Downloading this just for that
Hi Jonathan, really appreciate your donation. Very nice tips! If you don't mind, I'm adding to the wiki page for others, is that okay?
Go for it dude. That's the power of smart objects you brought in to sketch. ;)
Hi designers, how often would you pay for mockup templates, do you think it's a good idea to create a perspective mockup market for Magic Mirror?
I'm doing a bundle of perspective iPhone mockups for both PS & Sketch (Thanks to you! :)) for Small Product Lab challenge. Let me know if you deicide on building the market. Would love to help you with the content.
very sweet, I will let you know! Thanks in advance!
I've made a Photoshop Action While ago. May be that helps somebody uses Photoshop.
eh... Everybody can mockup in photoshop in minutes. Why bother with sketch's unreliable shape tools and art boards? I'm sorry but it also looks very confusing :(
Hi Korhan, So there're two issues you mentioned and one of them I'd really like to fix :D
James
I found it confusing too, you should just make the instructions inside the file more clear, press ctrl shift M on what? it didn't do anything when I tried it.
Maybe I'm too used to Smart Objects.
Ctrl Shift M to "reload all", so doesn't matter if you have select anything. it has to be different because the layer's name is the identifier to pair an artboard, so make sure the names are set.
This is how currently works but I am also looking for ways to make it more intuitive
Not everyone has photoshop
Cool, works like magic! But the rendered output quality is pretty bad (rugged edges).
Great work James. Missed the layer naming at fist, but once you get that, it is really easy! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Jesper!
It works and it's awesome o Now I don't have to open PS only for making perspective mockup!
This look great! One of the things I always go back to Photoshop for is perspective mock-ups like these.
Use with caution
Wow great work. I tried it and work fine, but for now only in non-beta, in beta some plugins crash it.
Yes I'm aware of the beta version crash. It wasn't obvious on how should I fix that but will be continuing on this tomorrow.
Thanks Frad!
