Got to be better than the Ashton Kutcher version.
Something feels like this is going to bomb big time. I hope it is just a bad trailer cut, but it feels campy and off beat.
There doesn't seem to be any heart to it, just the rise and fall of a good businessman.
What is this like a 10 hour movie? There's like 10 different plots happening all at once it seems. That being said, I'll still see it.
I had the same feeling
Nah, Sorkin usually makes lines happen so fast that 10 plots fill in the space that 1 is supposed to fit inside.
If Newsroom is any indication, I'm going to love it.
guys it looks good.
Sorkin has a knack for this kind of story - from what I saw in The Newsroom & Social Network, this has a good chance of being an evocative, smart film. And the casting is story-forward. More timeless than 'this guy is a Jobs doppelganger'.
This will be good. Fassbender is a terrific actor, genuinely world class. Boyle's recent films have been getting better, slicker and more confident. He handles pressure and large scope wonderfully - the way he was able to tell such an enormous story with Slumdog Millionaire, or the way he choreographed/directed the London Olympics opening point to a man who can confidently handle this subject matter.
Supporting cast is also excellent, Winslet never lets you down.
I felt some goosebumps from the trailer personally.
That actor looks NOTHING like Steve Jobs. C'mon, couldn't they have at least recruited a better suited actor?
Indeed. I think they didn't even care about the physical similarities which is definitely quite weird.
Which means that they probably focused more on personality, character and screen writing instead of visually copying an image without it's proper meaning. (Simply a guess, I know nothing about this movie)
I'd rather watch a guy who looks nothing like the real counterpart but can convey the character of said person, instead of a visual copy that feels empty.
Many films gracefully managed to do both. I don't see a reason why that wouldn't be achievable.
There are some reasons why this wouldn't be achievable. If you're going for a certain person, that limits your choice of actors extremely. Not everyone can be made to look like anyone. You need a basis for that. And in that pool of limited actors you also have your normal factors like availability (is the actor available at that time), cost (agreement on salary), desire (does the actor even want the role?), etc…
Sounds like you are already a big fan of the film ;)
Oh, as I said above:
(Simply a guess, I know nothing about this movie)
I am a big fan of putting personality before visuals, maybe this movie achieves this. But I wouldn't watch a movie about Steve Jobs anyway ;) I just hope for the movie goers
Michael Fassbender as Jim Carrey as Steve Jobs.
Such Helvetica!
The authorized Steve Jobs biography also uses Helvetica, it's very appropriate.
It's by Danny fucking Boyle. The guy made Trainspotting for god sake - It has to be worth a watch.
Still not sure about this one. I imagine it will be far better than the Kutcher Jobs movie, but I still don't think it will compare to Pirates of Silicon Valley.
