    This is really interesting. It's surprising to me both how nice these effects are for a game from 8 years ago and how little techniques have changed since then — like occlusion culling in the Witcher 3. There have been some new techniques but by and large, things have remained the same.

    Another interesting series on game development is Andy Gavin's (NaughtyDog co-founder) posts about Crash Bandicoot.
