I like it. Mainly because it's bold and different. When you see them side-by-side, it's a no-brainer.

I'm not a fan. It feels cold — music to me is warmth.

I don't notice it in much the logo, but all their interface elements are the same color and it bugs me.

Finding a single color that will work for all folks is probably a fool's errand, though, especially when dealing with something as personal as music. I'd love to see customizable interface colors for this reason (though I doubt we ever will).

The trick isn't to allow customizable color schemes -- it's to match color with the music. You wouldn't want a warm, vibrant red for something sad, nor a deep, cold blue for something poppy and happy. Designers already do a great job (in general) of putting the mood of the album in a distinct visual representation, so why not use that? Pull the colors out similar to what Pocket Casts does for podcasts.

I like the idea but curious how it would work in a playlist or radio context. Each song changes the interface color?

I nice hue rotate while the album artwork transitions in sounds nice. Android Lollipop has that wonderful color extraction tool, not sure if iOS7+ has anything similar though.

The colour really doesn't bother me, more bothered by how many armchair critics appear on social media whenever something gets rebranded or redesigned :/ Chill, people.

I'm a big fan of the change. The old green was warm, but unsaturated. It was essentially a dull yellow-green, not a color I associate with good things. Do I think the color should be a bit warmer? Of course. But I think that the new green is much, much better than the old. I hope a logo redesign is next (the current logo has equity but is fugly).

Side note: I haven't used Spotify for almost 3 years. Google Play is just too good for mixtapes.

I'm a fan of warmer hues, they feel friendlier and nicer. Particularly when viewed alongside one another, I think the old one is loads better.

It's nice that they're willing to make a move as bold as to change their iconic brand color to keep it fresh, but that doesn't mean it's a welcome improvement, IMHO.

    I like it. But it's a bit 80's.

EDIT: Also worth noting that it looks much better on white than on black.

The new green doesn't stand out enough from the overall dark interface IMO.

    Im pretty torn about it.

On one hand the brand needed a refresh, but the color is a bit harsh on my eyes.

Also colors and logos have brand value that has been accrued slowly over time, imo if you change something you risk losing some of that and starting over with users recognition of your brand.

Preferred the old one, new one looks too washed out to me, I thought my screen brightness was down when I saw it.

Nice to see sensible, measured responses to the change on Twitter.

It's more saturated which attracts the user's attention and slows them down. But this is not what you want the logo to do when users are using the app.

I wrote about it in this article: http://uxmovement.com/content/how-color-saturation-affects-user-efficiency/

It looks good but it doesn't feel like a coordinated effort to rebrand, and a bold new visual direction for the company - just a new colour shade on the iPhone app (the others still use the old one as of this moment).

I like it too. Compared with their old one it's a definite improvement. When you look at the design of their marketing pages as a whole it fits in very nicely. You can also see from my website that I'm a fan of green http://demetriades.co.uk

It's definitely cleaner and stronger than the old one. This green is very trendy :)
