Besides my design job I also work as a DJ. Main genre is deep house and electronica. Who else is DJ:ing or creating mixtapes? I am always interested in finding new mixes and inspiration for my gigs. Hit me!
Ah nice! I have always been serious about music but never put anything into practice (DJ:ing or Producing) Thinking of investing in a vinyl collection, start building one up!
Check out my Soundcloud some pretty sweet mixes/tracks on there: https://soundcloud.com/vincentmilliken/likes

Dude, great stuff!
I'm just going to throw this out there, but my anniversary is coming up and I'd love to do a song for my wife. Would you want to collaborate on something? I could do vocals/lyrics pretty well.
Let me know, and please feel free to say no if its not something your interested in. I can also send you a sample of songs I tried hobbling together in the past, just so you can get a sense of it.
Used to make random beats & mixes years ago in FL Studio. Recently picked up Ableton and trying to relearn DAW stuff~ Trying to make a new 30ish min mix every week or two!
Style: Electronic, hiphop, vgm, rap, r&b
ableton is so amazing. it will change your life.
Ableton is great. Have you checked out Splice.com? It allows users to share Ableton (and other) projects that are then browsable online. It's an incredible way to learn through viewing other people's projects.
It's in Beta. Here's an invite URL: https://splice.com/vip/JWallaceParker-a637ffa
Thanks for telling ;)
Great stuff Mattias – I am also in the same boat! Dribbble did an excellent feature on me about this split personality, maybe you next?? :)

That sounds great, and you are right ;) Checking out your music now, some really nice stuff. Inspiring!
Thanks, will check out your mixes!
I've been DJing now for around 9 years. I record mixes every 6 months or so, and play out every other week in Birmingham, UK and surrounding cities at the top underground house & techno nights.
I've played alongside the majority of the top artists in the genre I play (e.g Jamie Jones, Steve Lawler, etc). Take a peek if you like :-)
That sounds amazing, Daniel. Going to listen to your mixes this weekend. Great scene in Birmingham?
The scene in Birmingham is really good, I'd recommend you visit if you're ever in the UK :-D
I loved to see this thread.
I record mixes before to go out and run, focused on groove. Main genres: house and tech-house. Here is my Soundcloud profile:
Going to have a listen! Running to house and tech-house is really great. Can be a real tempo increaser ;)
Bloody hell, just realised that the last set we (I was part of a DJ duo) recorded was in 2012!
Need to get back into it.
I don't DJ but I do VJ
I DJ a bit as a hobby but don't usually record any of my mixes. I also have a lot of fun producing music but unfortunately I don't share much of the music I make.
I should probably work on publishing more in the future but you can check out my soundcloud and the one song I've published here:
Same here, just re-started my “career” ;). Followed you on SoundCloud, here’s me: https://soundcloud.com/xavez
Used to DJ more a couple of year ago. I originally started with producing music on trackers on amiga and c64 when i was around 13. Then lost interest in it but got back to music production around 2006. Since then it's been what keeps me in a good balance with my dayjob as a ux designer.
Around 5 years ago i started a band with some mates i met via twitter. I live in Germany and the other 3 guys in in California. It's been a fun Journey to collaborate on music online. We make some mixtapes as well and the other 3 guys DJ a lot over in the states.
I still DJ from time to time myself, but all my heart lies in producing music and playing synths or mess around with the talkbox.
Hope there will be some inspiration for you. If not in our remixes or productions, then maybe in the mixtapes :)
Great to hear about your story. I also started experimenting with music on the C64, followed by some Amigas and all the trackers :) Going to listen to your productions now. Thank you for sharing!
I started Noon Pacific a couple years ago to combine my passion for design and music. I release a new mixtape out to email subscribers and app users every Monday at noon (pacific time). www.noonpacific.com
Checking out your Soundcloud now!
Noon Pacific seems like a great concept, and I found some really great music as well. Would love to make a guest mix some day!
How did you start DJing? What kind of equipment would benefit a beginner?
I have always been interested in electronic music, since the day I got my first copy of "Acid Mix". My first dj setup was invested in 2007. Two Numark turntables and a mixer. I learned mixing with vinyl, with no real intention of dj:ing at clubs. Just for fun. It was quite hard but as soon as you get hold of beat mixing you're good to go.
I would recommend learning the basics at first. Beat mixing and just experimenting. I think a pair of CDJ:s is a great way to start. Then there is a lot of great digital stuff. Nowadays I seldom use my CDJ:s at home, mostly use Traktor and a controller.
I used to DJ at night clubs back in the day. Now I've started side project called 1SONG that will send you 1 song every day by email. You can stream or download each song. It's all electronic music (for now).
Check it out: http://1song.co
I'm about to start creating mixtapes. Right now I create music – soundcloud.com/nvrslps
Ha, that's awesome. Used to produce. https://m.soundcloud.com/subpixel
Perfect, thanks for sharing :)
+1 Same think here, i just don't do mixtapes, i can recommend a friend who you might like listening
It's so nice to have a hobby outside of design. Most of the time I try and take songs my other designer buddies have been listening to and some new tracks I've found and put them together in small little collections. Not exactly big stage or club stuff but it's a fun hobby for me.

I really agree with having a hobby outside of design. It's great to go into detail with something else once in a while. Although it all makes sense, it's two forms of art. Building stories and creating emotions. Some way those forces empower each other. I like your mixtape concept. Lot's of nice music to design to next week!
I'm producing my own stuff mostly, but also doing dj mixes like this one: https://soundcloud.com/martin-leblanc-eigtved/may-2015-trance-mix
