    Eric,

Designer News is going great and will be around for a very long time to come.

The Compete.com numbers are way off. In reality, March was a huge spike in uniques, which was when we announced LayerVault was shutting down.

    1) This may not be a realistic view of actual usage. Compete.com has been way off in numbers in my experience. 2) You can look at this other way in terms of DN becoming a denser community with more repeat users than unique visits.

I'm pretty sure there is nothing to worry about. If there is a slight wind of this community fading out, a number of companies would kill to take the crown or want to keep DN alive as proprietory or open-source.

I agree in actual numbers being way off, but often the trend is typically close. In other words, let's say DN has 2x the traffic Compete shows across the entire chart. Let's also assume the two giant months were when LV announced they were shutting down, thus generating a lot of inbound uniques from news-y sites.

That would still put recent months at historic lows, which (if true) created my initial cause for concern.
