Introducing Pixate Studio beta

over 8 years ago from , Head of Product at Pixate

Hey DN! Today we're launching a private beta of Pixate Studio. Pixate Studio is a completely standalone version of Pixate that runs on your desktop, allowing you to work from anywhere (even on a plane!) and store your prototypes locally. Join the beta here (you don't need a Pixate account):

http://www.pixate.com/studio/

We're also working on features to allow you to import and export prototypes between Pixate and Pixate Studio, so you'll be able to seamlessly use Pixate anywhere.

We hope you guys are as excited about this as we are!

I love how you develop quickly. You released pixate actions API just a couple of days ago.

This is awesome! One thing that I am really missing with Pixate is an import functionality directly from Sketch or PS. Similar to what we see in Framer Studio and recently Origami. I believe that would greatly speed up the workflow.

Very cool, nice to know everything can be done locally now.

    What is this built on?

I've been enjoying checking out Pixate (along with FramerJS) over the last few days. Both seem to be missing designing flows easily though. Are you guys thinking of easier flow management at all?

Does anyone know what iPhone 6 stand pixate are using on the pixate.com homepage?

    Fantastic news.

Edit: Curious to know if a plug-in architecture is on the roadmap for project compilation.. would be an interesting discussion.

By plug-in architecture, do you mean the ability to take the output of a Pixate prototype and use it in a native app?

This is in the works currently, though we're not taking an approach that requires the use of a proprietary engine in your app. Stay tuned. ;)

I am going to try and convince my company to use Pixate for prototyping. Andrew, is there anything we can do in regards to security/offline production work? It needs to be pretty under wraps :/

Hey Wesley, one of the reasons we built Pixate Studio was to address this exact scenario, where certain companies cannot use third-party hosted solutions for prototyping. Our Enterprise plans have additional security, and Studio allows you to work completely offline. If you choose to only use only Studio you of course lose some of the collaboration benefits of Pixate, but you can still pass .pixate files around just like you would with any other files (PSD, Sketch, etc.), and nothing ever goes outside your network.

Looks awesome! I look forward to using this when we start designing our mobile stories.
