When did monospaced fonts for body text became a trend and why? There was a time readability was a big topic...

Glad I'm not the only one annoyed by this trend...

When did Source Sans Pro (which is used for the body text) become a monospaced font?

Edit: should have read all the comments, looks like it was changed to source sans pro.

Am I missing something? Looks the same to me that it has for at least a year?

It's about time. Less distractions and focuses more on the meat of the site which is the content/code examples.

Strange - The site seems to get caught in a loop when it tries to load. It's literally flashing at me like somebody inserted the dreaded < blink > tag. :)

Don't think I've ever noticed code snippets before (is that new?), really cool.

Now every page seems to auto refresh every second. Hope Chris fixes this soon - it's is an important resource!

It looks the same as usual (including font) on the homepage, the only change on the article view is the monospace font. Can anyone provide screencaps of the redesign or is that the only change?

EDIT: The home has now changed for me. This all seems a bit dis-jointed. A slow roll-out perhaps?

Apart from the font I think the site is looking a lot more concise, the frills have been removed in order to focus more on the content. However, yes the text rendering isn't the greatest. On the flip side, the monospaced font does correspond with the subject matter.

Half of the content seems to have vanished from a glance, I'm sure it's still on other pages but this redesign makes it feel like they just deleted half of the website.

I think something odd is going on over there at the moment. The other day the whole home page showed up in a monospace font. Today it looks like entire articles are. This is so obviously bad that I’m assuming it’s probably a work-in-progress CSS change that has accidentally been pushed to the live site.

In particular I think we could discuss the monospaced type throughout entire articles. Looks fine on my Retina MacBook Pro, but on a 1x pixel density screen it looks rather blurry and unpleasant.

Edit: looks like it's been fixed now.
