Surely saying you're designing a 'gay' wedding is just as derogatory as the people you campaign against? Food for thought.

Don't see how its derogatory in any way, given that it is a wedding where two gay dudes are getting married –thus, it's a gay wedding.

I don't see it as derogatory, but in my opinion they're not getting "gay married", they're getting "married".

I believe the same, but the fact that they're gay is influencing the design, so I think it's relevant that they mention it.

Interesting take. Whatever makes everybody happy is cool with me :)

            Cool invites.

Thanks Ivan and Michael. Either way, I don't mind the terminology. I think a wedding is a wedding regardless of the sex of those getting married. However, same-sex marriage is still not legal everywhere, so I think it merits calling out. Plus it makes for a much catchier title. :)

I'm honestly not sure how to interpret this comment. Who are "the people I campaign against"?

I said "gay" in parenthesis because I don't think it should matter what sex the people getting married are, but I know that other people will see it as something unique (seeing as how same-sex marriage is recently legal in CA and many other places in the US), so I wanted to call it out anyway.

Also, the headline "Designing my Wedding" is a lot less attention-grabbing than "Designing my (Gay) Wedding". :)

I'm gay, it's my wedding, and I think that the same-sex aspect of the event is likely interesting to readers above and beyond an opposite-sex wedding due to the time in which we live. I see nothing wrong with calling that out.

Genuinely happy for you guys, despite not knowing you personally. I can't wait for the day where weddings aren't segregated between gay and straight.

    Everything is lookin' good btw

Thanks Ewen! Actually, this is a retrospective, since the wedding was in September. :) I should probably have said that right up front.
