This is amazing! The more we see plugins like that, the more aware we become of the plugin potential :)

Keep sharing your work and findings as you are, and plugins will keep coming :)

Specifically, I couldn't be able to write this plugin (wanabe) without the wisdom of people like you, Ale, Andrey, Timur, Sam... long live sketchplugins.com!

This is excellent. Adding the sidebar to the workspace is an interesting solution, albeit not an ideal one. How easy would it be for designers to customize that presentation (setting a new default/standard)? E.g. maybe I want notes to display on the left side, or bottom, of the screen, using a different design?

I'm sure customization is on his roadmap. I would just ask nicely via a GitHub issue : )

Dude, I'm eager to see the customization working. This has been in my mind since day 0. Actually, I think it makes no sense to release this tool without the option to customize the output.

The thing is that I need to finish other (more basic) features to make customization possible.

Hopefully, the next release will let you make the sidebar look like you want and choose what information you want to add automatically (project data, design goals, etc)

There are some things that you can do, though: By now, you can remove the header and metadata modules from the "master sidebar" (placed in --nb--assets page). All new sidebars wont have that layers.

Also, you can add anything you want above the comments. Just make sure that you add a layer called "bottomLine" between your custom content and the comments container "--comments".

    Idea: awesome

    Execution: looks brutally painful

Not trying to rag on the developer (or Sketch), but this shows the extreme limitations of the plugin structure. Inserting this info right into the actual document working space? Come onnnnn.

How would you expect this to work? Maybe I'm missing something, but "inserting the info in the document working space" is exactly the point of the plugin. Again, maybe I'm just failing to understand your comment, could you elaborate a little?

I think he meant something more along the lines of metadata/annotations for the sketch file.

That module is there just because I always use that data in my deliverables. It still needs to be polished (a lot) :)

The idea is to generate an initial raw sidebar (just with a header) and then, give option to add "metada", and "design goals" on demand, by screen or document.

Yeah, basically this. This plugin would work beautifully as an actual sidebar or with some sort of native UI. Definitely gets credit for accepting comments via popup panel, that's a step past most plugins.

It just seems like this data is put into the working space of the document because that's the only place the plugin architecture can manipulate.

I'm not trying to be harsh, it's an amazingly clever way of working within constraints, I just think it'd get tangled or confusing across several different workflows.

Looking forward to future updates, though!

I find it easier and more productive than using several tools to document interactions, behaviours or content. That often leads to misunderstandings of different ranges that always have an impact on the product.

That being said, when I started to think about writing the plugin, I just felt that was the way I'd like to work... but everyone has its own processes or methods where he o she feels comfortable.

BTW. I'd love to discuss with anyone how this tool should work!

Is anyone finding it hard to use this plugin? For some reason when I click on 'Add Comment' while having a layer selected it adds a new white page. Any video demoes out there?

Such an awesome idea!!! I always add groups with invisible infotext to my designs and tell the developers to make them visible if needed. Your plugin could make that much easier. But the problem for me is, that the sidebar extends my artboard, which I need to be in the exact size to view the screen on the device with sketch mirror. Since I'm not that informed about the restrictions of plugins, I want to ask, if the sidebar could be displayed outside the artboard? But still: Thank you for your awesome work Marcos Vidal!
