I actually had this same reaction. It's just boring rich-dude-chic. It's the identical aesthetic of all these copy+paste upper-middle-class gated community homes from my area. Doesn't look like a designer lives there at all.
Exactly. I want to think these are the photos of the house BEFORE he bought it. Although I'm not sure he's had the time to add some personality to it since then.
I thought these photos were taken before he moved in? It's been posted here before.

I often jog up the stairs on billionaire row when I’m in San Francisco. Jony's house is having huge renovations. Copy as in what's being referred to here. Steal, here, means to take ideas/principles and work them into your own work. For example, taking something like the "breathing" standby light on MacBooks and incorporating it into your own design, not blatantly copying a design to make an identical clone.
Sure but, as someone whose work has been ripped on several occasions: there's no use in spending time being upset about it. You'll always be copied/ripped. They can take your "thing" but they can't take the thing in YOU that produced that thing, and can produce the next thing and the next thing. And at the end of the day Apple is still Apple for this reason. Most people probably haven't heard of their knockoffs.

Pretty much. And where is the line drawn in "copying a style" versus "inspiration"? I seem to recall Apple paying, after the fact, a substantial sum to the Swiss railways over a certain Clock in their iOS ...
