Nice and bold design. Respect to the design team. It will be interesting to see how long the editorial team will be able to stick with this style over the coming weeks/months.
Besides the bold visual style, I like the transition to the next article by just scrolling further. Lovely.

  I agree. It's definitely been done before: Quartz, and Medium to a lesser extent (had a click-and-animation transition). But this one is done so seamlessly, at least on my machine.
