To be honest, I have no idea what to do with this redesign.
love your avatar lol
Very confusing overall.
That 'g' looks enormous.
What is achieved by the redesign?
If you can't see what was achieved, then the redesign failed and was pointless. Also you point :)
I actually don't like the redesign. For example the big top circle of the new 'g', has the same size as the two 'oo's – makes it look like 3 circles, instead the iconic 2, that resembles eyes, glasses or obviously "googles".
TLDR; I dislike gooole...
We spent weeks trying to draw a perfect two-story lowercase 'g' from various typeface families in my typography class.
The loop is supposed to be bigger than the bowl. And with that enlarged bowl, that 'g' looks like an 'o'.
"Gooole"
Is this dry humor, that I'm not getting?
Are we getting trolled...
The english is so jarring.
I read that first paragraph and thought my brain had stopped comprehending sentences. super weird effect
Thank goodness I wasn't the only one lol
Same here! I think I read it at least 3 times just to make sure my brain wasn't failing me as early as 2am… -.-
I too did ;)
that e
If the designer had even basic knowledge of typography, he'd know that a double-story lowercase "g" doesn't have the same bowl size as an "o" for a reason. Looks very amateur.
I just want to point out that this guy did not start with the current google logo.
Yeah....no.
I just immediately noticed the type differences and perceived them as wrong. Hard to know if that's just cause I'm used to the real one, though.
wat
Unfortunately there's no visual balance anymore.
I get why he wanted to align the body size of the 'g' with the 'o', but it makes the 'g' look disproportionately large.
Why posting this here?
That 'g' is so whack
