Very cool idea. The lack of Spotify integration is a deal breaker for me, but I understand that's a personal opinion.
Like the design, although I think you need something to indicate that you can scroll down.
Proxima-nova condensed looks superb, although I think the social icons are too small within the circles.
Thanks for the feedback.
Regarding Spotify, we'd love to support them of course, but we can't right now. Their terms of services tell you don't own your own playlists (they do) and you're not allowed to convert them to another service. Also their web API, which is quite recent, doesn't offer full time streams (only 30s previews). We hope this will change or we can have a special agreement.
This is so cool!! I'm a huge music lover and I'd love to have early access to this to help test it out. Any chance I could nab an invite?
firstname.lastname@example.org is my email.
Looking very sharp so far!
Thanks Andy. We'll send you the invite very soon. Our server needs to digest a bit the big imports done today. Very happy with the Designer News effect. Probably not a big news, but it really looks like designers love music :)
looks cool, something I'd really be interested in trying. How big an iTunes library can it handle? and how quickly could it process it?
We've set a limit to 30MB (about 30K tracks) per iTunes import for now. You don't import MP3 but XML files. If your library is larger you can do multiple imports (export playlists XML files). Processing time can vary, but it's very fast if we already matched those tracks before. If you have a large library with very uncommon tastes, it can take a bit more time, specially if there are lot of users doing imports at the same time. It shouldn't take more than a few hours in the worst case.
Love the feature. I just got an invite for the Alpha version and had a small UX remark on the uploading part of the iTunes XML file.
In the description you can see how to export this. When you click on on "Import", you acces your files and it opens (in my case) the Download folder. Maybe it would be nice to open the screen on the place where the file is already placed & updated (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ytyt38afyyy9ug0/Schermafdruk%202014-08-01%2017.43.43.png)
That way, the user has faster acces to the file. Maybe even turn on the option to highlight only XML files (because that's the only kind of file that's supported, right?)
Anysqueezy, keep on going with this, really love the simplicity of it. I think that's really a powerful thing in this service.
I'm currently working on this with a friend, and I need your feedback. Thanks!
I'm a big soundcloud user and a big fan of youtube music, totally keen for early access. I'm also conceputalising an internet music thing (as an app) with a friend, I've tried out a bunch of online services in the process, i'd love to see what you've done differently.
Is there the concept of a stream and subscription? Or is this just for compiling into one place, each link is added manually?
You can add tracks and playlists manually by pasting URLs, but you can also import all your favorites and playlists from different online services, and also your itunes library. We want to let you have all your favorite music in one place. We also try to match music between services so it's more secure and better quality (let's say you're a rdio subscriber, and you added a Youtube track, if possible we'll play it from rdio). I just sent your invite.
