I have a macbook pro and I have been using Apple's Magic Mouse for years but recently having some issues with it. This is my second Magic Mouse and I would like to check out some alternatives.
What wireless mouse are you using with your setup?
I don't understand how people can enjoy using the Magic Mouse. It looks amazing but for my slightly bigger than average hands it's insanely uncomfortable. I owned a few mice from the Logitech MX series, very comfortable shape for your hand! Currently I'm quite happy with the Razer Mamba.

At home I have a R.A.T. MMO, which expands nicely to fit.

No, but it does transform into a Kia Optima whenever I want.
The fix is interesting. The few times I've used a Magic Mouse though, I didn't keep my hand up like he does in the video. I lay my hand almost flat which is how I thought you should use the MM?
Love the Razer Mamba, fits me perfectly :) Bit on the expensive side, so I usually recommend the Razer Deathadder instead. Same type of mouse without the wireless capability :)
Don't forget to mention the totally useless but awesome looking color changing LEDs!
Ah but it's not useless, I use it to indicate which profile I'm on (if it's lit up I'm on my gaming profile with different sensitivity)

I've always felt that the Magic Mouse was extraordinarily heavy compared to other mice.

Indeed :P I'm just used to the Logitech mice that conform nicely to my hand, and are a nice light weight design.
I have small hands and I can't use a MM for more than 30 seconds without my hand hurting.
I've found Apple's Magic Trackpad to be the most controlled and precise mouse-like peripheral. I still use my Intuos for drawing and the like, but 99% of my actual design work gets done with a trackpad.
Plus, with all the multi-touch and gesture stuff, it still feels sci-fi as fuck.
I just switched from the Magic Mouse to the Magic Trackpad, I'm not sure why it took me so long. The gestures are awesome.
The Logitech Performance MX mouse has pixel precision and I find it to be extremely ergonomic. It just gels in your hand.
I've used this for the past few years and love it; comfort, precision and some extra buttons.
Along with changing the Thumb Button to Enter, setting the forward & backward to undo/redo in Creative Suite apps changed my workflow.
the scroll isn't smooth though is it? It kind of clicks 10px at a time right?
@Adham - The scrolling is awesome! It has 2 settings, regular scroll (clicks) and hyper-fast scrolling (smooth). You can alternate between the two by pressing the o/o button just behind the wheel.
It's very smooth and with two settings it quick to change it to fit the current task.
Yes! I've used this and the version before it with the cool charing cradle for years and it's been great. I always look for new mice, but ultimately keep this one because it feels so right.
I love this mouse. My hand started hurting after using my Magic Mouse all day so I switched to the Logitech Performance MX. Although it's not as sexy it fits my hand so much better. The scrolling experience is way better on a magic mouse but considering I use this 40+ hours a week I have gladly giving up a "sexy" experience for something more comfortable.

Would you say this is a good mouse for someone with repeated use related tendon issues in their hand? Enough tilt?
I have been using it for a year now and haven't noticed any wrist or hand pain since I started with it. I would say try it for a week you can always return it :)
I have tried so many different types of mice. I have found gaming mice are the best because they usually offer precise control with no lag. The Mamba has been the simplest, most comfortable, mouse I have found to date. I have had several of them.
It's awesome for sure, sadly my wireless capability broke down a few months ago so I use it with the wire. Still awesome tho :)
I can't really stand using anything other than the Magic Mouse.
I use the Apple Magic Mouse at work, but at home I use a Razer DeathAdder Black, and I think it's 1000 times better than Apple's mouse.
Apple's mouse is nice, but it's not anatomic at all. Gaming mouses are way better for longer periods of time, and you can configure some extra buttons to do other stuff.

I've owned the Deathadder for almost 6 years of daily use, for both designing and gaming. It is, hands down, the most reliable and accurate mouse I've ever used.
I would have agreed until both of mine broke for the same reason, the scroll wheel collapsed and wouldn't scroll anymore :(
I'm now using a Corsair M65 and feel it's level with if not better than the Deathadder. The based of it is aluminium so it's really heavy which I like.
That's a real shame, maybe I've been lucky! Mine's been thrown around in bags and car boots, generally abused and still functions perfectly. If it fails I'll look into the Corsair mice, as I have a K90 keyboard :) The aluminium backplate on that is so satisfying! :)
How do you like that keyboard? I've currently got a Razer Blackwidow and thinking about alternatives.
I'm a sucker for mechanical keyboards, so if you can stand the clackety-clack noise, then it's great. Keys are very responsive with just the right resistance. Cleaning keys are easy due to the keys being raised somewhat from the backplate, and it's pretty comfortable!
I'd say if you can find it on a deal (say, 20% off) then it's definitely worth it, though I would be hesitant to recommend paying the RRP.
Yeah, the Razer Blackwidow is mechanical too, I think it has Cherry MX Blues. I'll try finding it in a store to test it out.

I've never felt that I was as fast or as precise with a trackpad as I am with a mouse. This is likely a product of my upbringing, coming from a Protestant, Windows-based household in the Northeast. That being said, I spend so much of my time on my keyboard in development that my mouse needs to be little more than an effortless flick of the wrist for quick navigation and occasional work in one Adobe program or another. I also really needed something portable. Now I know I could get panned for touting a Microsoft product, but... enter the Arc Touch:
It's sexy, it's wireless, and it works. I have, quite seriously, had strangers come up and ask me about this thing when they see me snap/unsnap it. It's like a slap bracelet that controls your computer. Highly recommended. Only downside is it connects via USB not bluetooth.
Logitech G500, is da sh*t! You can change the weight and its shape is amazing. Have it for 3 years now and still love it. Would always buy it again. And it's pretty cheap :)
Ain't as sexy as the Magic Mouse, but it's the most comfortable I've used and significantly increases productivity levels.
Been using it for more years than I can count. The absolute best mouse I've ever used.

Trackpad is sufficient 99.999% of the time (bc of gestures and proximity to keyboard) but if I want precision for illustrations, I use my Wacom tablet.
I have smaller than average hands for a 20 yo guy and I still find the Magic Mouse painful sometimes, but I love it's functionality and It really helps my workflow despite it's shape/size.
No mouse! Just the built-in trackpad :)
I really enjoy the Magic Trackpad for most of 99% work, but also have a fairly nice wired Logitech G400 mouse for emergencies. I didn't mind the Magic Mouse but definitely don't miss it at all in retrospect.

Steelseries Sensei. The best mouse I ever used. Lots of fine tuning (even for gaming mouse), beautiful design and very comfortable in hand.
It took me weeks to tame my magic mouse. Now I can't live without it, but boy was it a pain to get used to it !
I keep it simple. Apple Magic Mouse and Logitech M325 Wildlife.

Tried using Logitech mice but all turned out to be more annoying in one way or another. Magic Mouse has been the daily driver, but it does start to hurt after 5 or 7 hours of straight work. I think any mouse will.
The touch gestures speed up workflow. I like it.
Logitech Performance MX is the best mouse I've ever used. Highly recommended.
Magic Mouse here. I really like the super smooth momentum-based scrolling.
I actually own a magic mouse, trackpad and Intuos 5 Pro. And I use them all for different types of scenario's. The one I can't live without would probably be the Intuos 5, because of the photo retouching and video editing.
2nd choice would be the Apple trackpad :-)
Logitech G400. I have the same one at home for gaming on my PC.
Paired with USB Overdrive (Mac), it allows me to have full control over the sensitivity, acceleration, and button mapping.
I picked up a couple Steelseries Kinzu v2 off of a Woot.com thing a while back. I use those at home and work for everything. They were $15, and they do the job exactly nicely.
I am about to transition into uncharted territory, however.
I aspire to make sure my computer as unusable to other people as possible. I currently have blank black keys on a 60% keyboard (no arrow keys), a Poker II.
In two months, I'll be building an ErgoDox keyboard. To go with that, I'm going to grab a CST LaserTrac and do the ripster mod on it, adding some side buttons. The goal is a vague approximation of this amazing setup.
Corsair M65, one of the best I've owned, I love it. That with a gaming mouse pad is just glorious to use.
I used the Magic Mouse for a long time and I don't have too big hands so it was comfortable to me. Two weeks ago I got an Intuos Pen & Touch and I'm trying to use it also as a trackpad, but if you're used to Apple's trackpad gestures it's actually a bit weird and limited.
I use the Apple Magic mouse, I had to remove the previous and next swipe but, it works great.
