Looks nice, the menu icon seems unnecessary.
Works on mobile but shouldn't be on the desktop
Yeah two clicks for navigation is superfluous
Really not a fan of this. What's the saying about designers and doorknobs?
What's the saying about designers and doorknobs?
I haven’t heard that one. Please elaborate. I’d love to know it.
Something to the tune of "If designers were tasked with designing a house, Doors wouldn't have knobs until you went to open them". I'm probably butchering it, but I hope you get the point.
Ha. That’s great.
Yeah, its frustrating when sites hide the navigation on desktop. Its like 'mobile first' then we forgot about the browser.
Hey folks! Glad to be back. Though the relaunch isn't a 1-day event. It's a rollout – things to add, things to tweak. So thanks for the feedback too :)
Nobody mentioned that the article view looks a little like old medium?
An avatar and font choice don't warrant "copy." Design is design. You choose the best route for the task at hand. We wanted legibility and character, so we went with a serif, specifically Tisa Pro (this can change, as per my last comment).
As for the avatar, if you noticed from Drew's redesign Dribbble shots back in Nov 2012, we've had this for a while. Medium hadn't launched yet.
Not seeing the new site yet… Maybe a DNS thing?
Probably. I’m seeing the new site.
Most likely. We changed servers.
Wow, I'm so glad this "came back" otherwise I might have never known it existed. What a great resource! Welcome back The Industry!
Thank you! We're excited to be back!
Can someone post a screenshot? Still not seeing new site
I can see new site with hidemyass but not normally.
I really want to love this redesign, I love The Industry, but there are a too many odd things about it.
The parallax on the top image seems odd. The images are large and faded/blurred, and takes up a huge amount of screen space. What is the purpose? I came to that page to read a specific article. Also covering up the post headlines on scroll seems strange.
Same thing on the homepage. Nearly all the relevant content is below the fold—forced down by that odd parallax scroll. I'd expect the gray section on the bottom, where all the articles are, to be much closer to the top of the page.
Well-done with the new site. Great typography and clean design for good readability.
