Curious what, if any, CMS everyone is using for the portfolio these days.
I've looked at koken.me, and have been using secretarycms.com but looking for other options.
Wordpress, there I said it. Im using a nice theme as a base and then I modified it.
Feels good to get it off your chest, doesn't it?
Plain html and css. Old skool!
Just redesigned my portfolio/blog using statamic.com. It's pretty solid.

I created my own workflow using Assemble, that runs off Grunt and Bower. Kinda like Jekyll, so it's not exactly a CMS.
I've used assemble for a couple small projects and it's fantastic.
Mine is just HTML and CSS, it was the only way I'd ever actually build it. Otherwise I'd waste time trying out every CMS, static site generator and javascript framework under the sun.
GitHub + Jekyll. Not really a CMS but found it more than adequate for a portfolio (unless you want to do non-clientside display of feeds from Dribbble and such).
If you ever found the need, Prose does a pretty nice job of making Jekyll seem more like a 'CMS'.
That looks very sweet! I do have another project I was thinking of using the GitHub + Jekyll combo for, but since it’s writing heavy this would probably fit well.

Hi Kyle! I've been working on a startup called 900dpi, which offers simple CMS integration with just HTML and CSS. We also have forms, includes, and coming soon a blog (also all with HTML and CSS). Your files are housed in Dropbox, so no server setup either! AND we host porfolio sites FOR FREE :) I hope this helps, and good luck with your hunt!
At the moment I use Behance as my main portfolio.
My domain www.patrickloonstra.nl is redirected to it. But I am thinking about making my own domain a portal with links to Behance, Dribbble and my blog.
I thought a static site is okay for this purpose, but looking at these CMS options, maybe it is a good thing to try to setup a cms in my own static html.
HTML + CSS. I use a JSON file to manage my work. Haven't found a CMS that I'm really happy with.
I use Squarespace (gasp!). Been thinking about redesigning my site with basic, from scratch, custom html/css/js. The only thing holding me back is the fear of wasting hours tweaking it be as close to the version in my dreams and never actually finishing it. Haha.

Ha! I've been there. I'm a designer, but I've coded my own sites by hand and even custom coded a Wordpress site, but I realized how time consuming it was and, in the end, how much a chore it was to update. I'm just not as efficient at coding as someone who makes a living doing it, so I went with Cargo a little while ago. I spent a day or two futzing with it, but in the end, it was easy to play with, easy to maintain, and worked on everything from a laptop to an iPhone.
I admire people who code sites from scratch immensely, but there is also nothing wrong with simply showing your work on a solid platform. When I interview designers, I'm not really looking at if they hand-coded their portfolio site... I'm looking at the work that's being showcased... that's the important part.

None. It's a single page static HTML site – didn't feel the need to use a CMS.
In the future I would probably use AngularJS and build the app using a 'projects' JSON object. And use Grunt to resize images, etc.
EDIT: The goal for a portfolio, in my opinion, should be a place where you can showcase your work as soon as possible. Adding a layer of abstraction such as a CMS just adds to my procrastination.
I have a cargo site I use, but I'm currently moving everything over to Koken.
I came in here to see if anyone else was [planning on] doing the same. I ran across Craig Henry's site, and saw that he was using Koken as a portfolio. Seems nice and easy to manage.
I'm using koken too. Re-launched today, works like a charm.

Currently building both my company website as well as my personal portfolio on Siteleaf.
Wordpress. I love it because it can be super powerful when I need it to be.
Designed and built the whole thing from scratch, so no frameworks or any of that stuff.

I use Perch www.grabaperch.com, super affordable and they offer great support. You can design your sites in HTML/CSS and then drop in some really simple PHP tags and your'll have an easy to update CMS. I highly recommend it for small sites/portfolios

i am using koken, even tho i am not finished creating my own theme, it is fun and not that hard. i have average coding knowledge and know my css. there is still some stuff i would like to have different with koken but overall it is just great. and there are going to be some new things coming in near future (according to koken on twitter)

I finished my portfolio last month, and did it all in HTML, no CMS. I did use bootstrap as a HTML framework, but customized it entirely (following this great recommendation: http://ollomedia.com/using-twitter-bootstrap-the-right-way/)

I think for a portfolio HTML and CSS are the best. For everything else I use a custom built PHP framework that I've perfected over the years.
I use Expression Engine, but depending on your goals with your site/portfolio, EE may not be the best option. If you're trying to get into the code aspect of the web, EE will give a pretty good foundation to understand the underlying mechanism of how dynamic websites work. It's worth looking into. It's a very flexible and robust CMS.
I've tieed it out, but for the exact project, it seemed too complicated. It may be useful for larger projects.
For years I used wordpress but I hated it. Now I'm currently redesigning my portfolio with a custom rails app.
Used to use Drupal. Pain in the rear-end but it means I can design something first, then build it from scratch, and it'll work and be all awesome and shit.
I don't exactly have a portfolio site, but surprised that nobody has given Anchor a try for a portfolio site. Seems like it'd be great for that purpose, or maybe not.
I'm using Cargo right now but I might end up switching to one of the dropbox based solutions in the near future.
Github + Jekyll. Dead simple, free hosting and control version system, markdown... what else? :-)
Same here. I recently switched to Github + Jekyll... Markdown + updating my website whenever I want using the Github app for Mac feels awesome.
I kept getting sidetracked with customization and WordPress upkeep, so when it came time to get something up-to-date online quickly, I switched to virb.com. I'm not sure I'll ever leave.
