Anyone interested in helping a colleague and Cofounder of PocketSuite with a new venture?

Hi everyone! A colleague of mine, Chinwe Onyeagoro (https://www.linkedin.com/in/chinweonyeagoro/), is organizing a "Saturday School" focused on teaching kids and their parents African history from pre-colonial times to the present day history of the African Diaspora.

She is looking for a designer to help her design a website for the Saturday School. The Saturday School concept is a model pioneered in the 1970s by a group of African Caribbeans in London to teach black children their long and storied history, culture, and foundational contributions to human society.

These Saturday Schools had such an incredible impact on the lives and achievements of black students that the model was replicated and thousands of Saturday Schools were created in the United Kingdom.

Chinwe has two toddlers under the age of 4 and is the CEO & Co-Founder of a successful, venture backed tech company called PocketSuite.io. She knows firsthand how difficult it is for us as parents to carry the full burden of educating our kids about the wide and wonderful world.

In her own words, she was really inspired when she learned about the history of Saturday Schools which, if you have never heard of this concept, she encourages you to watch this talk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gYYYXpCGeA) by rapper, poet, journalist, Akala, who himself is one of the most amazing examples of the power of the Saturday School model. She plans to draw from the Saturday School model and create a virtual Saturday School for black families in the U.S.. Of course, organizing a project like this takes a village and she is looking for curious and committed volunteers to lend a hand.

Anyhow, sorry for the long message but there's a lot of interesting history to share about this concept.

So, if you're interested I'd love to put you in touch with her! She's incredible and is very well connected in the tech community and YCombinator. Feel free to reply with your email or reach out to me at jsanty(at)gmail.com.
