ASK DN: Startup Weekend attendee here, we need a little help...

over 9 years ago from , Designer at Chef'n

Hey everyone!!

I am at Startup Weekend Seattle right now and we are building a site that aggregates alternative education routes, right now it's easy to want to be a developer and go do an 8 week bootcamp that promises you a job. We are wondering if anyone knows of programs similar for designers, writers, filmmakers, animators, accountants, business people, anything honestly we would love to get the link to it!

Thanks everyone, means a lot!

There's General Assembly in SF and NYC. They offer a UX course - well a few of them. One that's an immersive and it's a 12 week class that's 9-5, and then they offer the weekly (or bi-weekly evening) class that's a few hours a week: https://generalassemb.ly/education/user-experience-design

There are other classes that they offer as well in other areas.

I haven't really heard of many of those types of courses outside of software/web development contexts.

The only one I can think of is Startup Institute (http://startupinstitute.com/), which, in addition to a dev track, offers tracks in:

    • Product & design
    • Sales & business development
    • Marketing

They don't promise you a job, but will help you in that regard.
