Hey, I made this app. I also wrote a Blog post on making it that some of you may also find interesting:

Great blog post. Haven't tried the app yet.
“The official Figma app weighs in at 132MB when installed on your Mac, this is mainly due to the fact it uses Electron. Figmac on the other hand is all native, which massively lowers the file size of the app to a jaw dropping 1.5MB. That makes Figmac around 88 times smaller than the official Figma app.”
Hi Norm, does it support multiple tabs now? I can't seem to make it work.
Edit: I realized that Figma mac app is kinda different from their web app, they have a dedicated menu icon where if you click a file it automatically opens in a new tab. So on Figmac, to open a new tab, you have to right-click then "open-new-tab."
Am I doing it wrong?
That’s correct, I don’t alter the ui of Figma at all, so Figma is technically loaded into a browser and this is how it works in a browser.
Unable to get profile information from Google
Is that expected? Can't sign into my Figma account via Google sign in.
Yeah google sign in is not hooked up yet.
so much love for all you do Norm. it's installed, and working great!
thanks buddy.
This looks interesting, I'm curious if it solves performance issues with Figma while in a hangouts call - it always runs very poorly while sharing screen.
Hey community! Can someone help me, please.
Why do you prefer to install another application over just using your Browser? Everything works perfect, no?
Seems like a not brainer upgrade, same experience with substantially smaller app.
One annoying thing I've noticed is that the options in the menu bar are different to the ones in the app. I particularly noticed this in the edit menu. I went to "select all with same instance" and it wasn't there. Its still accessible in the hamburger, but would be nice if they were synced up like in the official mac app.
Yeah it’s limited only to actions that have keyboard shortcuts. I didn’t want to inject JS into the app to calls stuff as I could effect the core app.
My plugins menu has disappeared
Thank you for sharing, Norm! Looks great!
As this is natively built instead of using Electron; will this app also tackle the issue concerning battery consumption? I mainly use the original app on my (new) Macbook Air which sadly lasts just 2 hours while using it...
If that's the case you should show a comparison on battery usage. It would be a huge pro :)
I'll definitely check it when I get back home!
I’m not sure I haven’t really tested it in depth that much regarding consumption of resources. Because it’s free and a side project I can’t allocate lots of time for development and testing, so as the feedback comes in I’ll make notes :).
The Google log in option is not working for me. Clicking the button pops an error up saying "Unable to get profile information from Google"
Yeah I missed that during testing. I’ll get it patched in the next update.
Thank you Norm :) This is great. There is an issue there with drag and drop svg into from iconjar for example. This issue is on safari too so I think is not too much you can do for that.
Oh I’ll take a look at that.
