Jony Ive Is Leaving Apple, but His Departure Started Long Ago (wsj.com)

I don’t love the reporting of the two main design functions in to Operations. It means product and design are removed somewhat from the chain of command — which has been partly responsible for Apple’s strength in the market (the other is logistic supremacy Cook brought to the org in the late 90s).
I’ll be curious to see if ill-fitted cutting edge tech starts seeping it’s way in to their products at the expense of holistic continuity and aesthetics (like every almost every other tech company in hardware).
I agree, but it’s less of an issue if you consider Jeff Williams to be the CEO-in-waiting, or just even the second in command.
It is a shame to not have as much product focus at the top of the org chart though. I guess we’ll see how it pans out. I’m not as much a fan of the 2013-2019 era of the era that preceded it.
According to Tim Cook, it's a all made up

Well he's not going to say it was all completely spot on is he....
He's far more credible on that matter than the WSJ journalist, unless Ive comes out to say otherwise. I mean they claimed Tim didn't even know how products looked like until they're show off to the public which makes no sense.
