Are you going to use Windows or Mac OS? If Mac, recommend checking this article https://bjango.com/articles/macexternaldisplays/
I'm using Samsung S27H850QFN which is 2560x1440 resolution, it was around $400 when I bought it.
Looks like that one supports 60hz, which is good. When buying cheap monitors in resolutions higher than 1080p, make sure they're not limited to 30hz, and make sure they're compatible with the cable standard your machine needs to output 60hz. Some monitors only support 60hz through displayport, some only support it through more recent HDMI standards, etc. I think?
Thanks for the tips!
I use the Dell Ultrasharp U2718Q 27-Inch 4K IPS Monitor. It's quite good for the price. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073VYVX5S/
Bought this one few months ago, best choice ever!
We have a load of these where I work now. They're great monitors, but damn you notice they're not retina (well that can be said for the vast majority of non-retina displays).
Really? I have an LG 4K display and I can BARELY tell the difference with my retina macbook when I get super close to the screen. At normal distance it seems just as sharp.
Oops my bad, I didn't realise he linked to the 4k version. We have the 1440p ones
Yup, I bought this about a year and a half ago, I've been super happy with it
I wish I could buy a 4K monitor at that price. Here in Aus, it's $1,019
Can't go wrong with this one.
Got a 21" Dell Ultrasharp a couple of years ago and I'm still very happy with it. Was and probably still is the best monitor for design under £200 ($265).
The Dell ultrasharp is amazing. better than my thunderbolt display imo
I found the HP Pavilion 32 QHD monitor at BestBuy for $279 on sale. You can price match it too. Fantastic monitor, so I bought two of them. The colors are beautiful and text is crisp. The blacks are very good. I also can play games on the monitor.
I am using this, not bad. Fair price with 10-bit, 4K, IPS. https://www.amazon.com/Philips-276E8VJSB-3840x2160-MultiView-DisplayPort/dp/B07JXCR263
Dell P2715Q is still a good choice. You can find second-hand around 300-400$.
I actually bought this one last December: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-EB321HQU-Awidpx-Monitor-Display/dp/B077BSWLTL
I went with size over pixel density. It's been great for me. One of my favorite things is I can have my Switch plugged into the HDMI port, and run my computer over DisplayPort, and when I want to take a break from work I can just use the HDMI input (my Switch) as a picture-in-picture window.
I just bought a new screen based on a friend recommandation. This is the LG 27UD59-B LED https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B0764DMTPN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&tag=trix0c2-21&psc=1&ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1552844455&sr=1-1&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_three_browse-bin%3A5401208031
4K, good design and fair price
