I'm so old I remember when Facebook was still a web app. On the other hand, it wasn't as massive and bloated as it is now.
wow, did you use it back then?
I remember being part of one of the first public rounds of FB signups. It was quite a pleasant web app back in the mid-late 00's.
At a glance, a lot of the 2008 apps look easier to use than their 2018 counterparts
App functionality has increased a lot over the years as well. Even things like PC Calc aren't as simple as their 2008 counterparts.
and marketing departments increased as well :) Now many big companies think firstly about money, rather than user experience.
yes, new apps have too much design fluff, everything tries to get your attention.
App Store changed the most.
Its crazy that the big change only came recently. It was categories and lists for waaay too long.
which is strange because Apple has a strong design team
hardware design, yeah. their software is always neglected.
Shazam kept their branding for a long time. The app looked great in 2008, and keeps great now as well.
I love how apps (and websites) have embraced white space more over time.
white space became more popular with time :)
yes, white color looks more pleasant
This is so great!! Thank you so much for pulling all this together!
Thanks for reading :)
