Hey guys,
We're working hard towards launching so every bit of feedback is really valuable at the moment so I wanted to reach out and ask the community here as this product is for you guys.
It's been a slow process, we had to freelance to support ourselves so it's been a lot of stop and starting which is frustrating, especially when all you want to do is work on your baby.
But we've just gone full-time on this so things will improve each week :)
There's a long way to go, there's lots of UX and UI things I want to solve but the main thing is that designers like yourselves would use this. If we nail that then we're on the right track.
I've been really inspired by the guys at Buffer, reading their posts about design, growth and problems has really helped, so next week I'll start blogging about what we've learnt so far.
For me personally it's been an eye-opening experience, I think I took a lot of stuff for granted. I'm use to working in teams so someone is usually around to pick up pieces or errors in my design work.
It also forces you to focus, if I make a mistake (a misplaced button, poor user flow etc) i can't stop Brendan who's working on important backend dev, so it has to stay there until we finish a part of the roadmap. Have to let go of a lot of stuff!
If you have any feedback I'd love to have a chat, I'm on Twitter or you can fire me a email murat marvelapp com
Cheers guys
Congrats on launching. Honest question, how do you compare (other than on price and dropbox integration) to Flinto?
For someone deciding which service to use for Prototyping what makes Marvel stand out from the rest.
Thanks!
Thanks Greg!
Well Flinto is amazing obviously no question but we're going down a different road with what we have planned.
This is our early beta right now but would be happy to tell you what's in store next month. Could you drop me a mail, would love to tell you about it

Hey Murat,
This is a minor critique, but when I signed up, I didn‘t like the "sad folder" as the first thing I see.
I was thinking, maybe the "sad folder" is a good blank state for existing users that had projects, but now deleted them all… but for new users, maybe something more fun/inspiring?
Anyway, great product just wanted to share that.
Really love where this is heading. Automatic Dropbox syncing is brilliant, although I'll have to change my workflow to have individual PSDs for each screen. Layer comps would be ideal, or renaming folders as the hook for defining each screen... for example "Layer Name [screen]" or something similar.
Also, I'd love the ability to add my own custom JS transitions. Any thoughts on jQuery plugin support specifically for/limited to transitions?
Congrats on the launch. Dropbox syncing is great.
Scrollable areas and more Android support would be great. The "Pop" transition is already a step in the right direction, but both Invision and Flinto seem to ignore Android prototypes.
Hey Brian,
Thanks!
Would love to know what you'd like to see for Android, we want to start concentrating on that soon
Popular Android device frames (Nexus 4/5/7/10, Samsung Galaxy S3/4) for viewing on the web and support for saving links to homescreen would be nice. Many clients don't actually have Android devices to test on.
Beyond that, faking the real app experience on Android devices would be great. It's relatively simple to add a prototype link to the homepage on iOS, but the process is a little more involved on Android. Viewing the prototype without browser chrome and working with the OS-level software navigation bar at the bottom are some other obstacles.
What level of interactivity does this offer? Is it primarily for clicking through between screens, or does this offer animation/transitions and different states of elements too?
We have a small amount of transitions between screens and will be adding more and more as we move toward launch :)
Just Trying out the App..
But the Font is jagged in my chrome, windows 7 :-( http://i.imgur.com/h8cw3bI.png
Anyway Good Luck guys...
Urgh! Let me try and fix that fuglyness
Hey Murat, Congratulations on the launch! I just synced my Dropbox to Marvelapp and now I feel the urge to work on a project I've been delaying for a while. Will keep you posted if anything weird happens while playing with your app.
Do it! Give me a shout if you have any problems, we're in bug squashing mode right now :)
Looking great Murat!
I really like Balsamiq Mockups, which has similar linking/prototyping functionality, but sharing with it has been very limited.
Are you looking for feedback on the website too, or primarily the app/service?
Anything and everything! If you hate something or would never use it, I'd defo like to hear, feel free to rip in :)
This looks like exactly what I've been wanting. Leaving this comment as a placeholder for constructive feedback later.
I haven't tried your product yet, but are there any plans for Sketch?
100% - no question in my mind that we have to have Sketch support
Is Google drive in your sights for the future?
Possibly, it just depends how popular it becomes. In my freelance experiences hardly any companies are using it for design files on projects.
But we're keeping a eye on it :)
Great work so far. Is there any way to support Layer Comps as well as full files?
The whole Dropbox thing makes me nervous though. I get that you guys have done everything to be safe but that's a tough hurdle. Have Dropbox ever said anything about enabling read only at the folder level through the API?
Layer comps is something we're working on, it's quite a bit of effort technically so we wanted to get the basics right first, but it's coming :)
Sadly the reason why folder level wouldn't work is because once you select that access, you can no longer change it plus it's a pretty poor experience.
So here's the scenerio
*You sign up for Marvel *You select single folder access for your project 'Weather app' *If you ever wanted to sync any files with Marvel you would have to always have to drag them into the weather app folder, including new projects *If you ever wanted to use another folder - you can't, you've just given single folder access to Weather app, you would have to delete your account and start again *Also shared folders can't be accessed either
It's a tough one to solve but we have some stuff coming that will hopefully make it better.
We know how important security is and we're doing lots to ensure that our users are safe
Really looking forward to trying this out. I know I am probably in the minority here, but I primarily use Illustrator for UI design. Any chance that Marvel will create images from AI files as well? Regardless, Marvel is looking good. Thanks for making it free!
Hey Jamie,
That's something we have planned, but I'd love to know exactly how you set up your files (as I don't usually work in AI) so I can work out how to implement it
Awesome. I usually work this way:
Here is a typical layer structure.
Here is a typical file/folder structure.
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have other questions.
Helps massively! Thank you!
I really like this app and the Dropbox integration, however you really should re-record this video.
Quality is bad:
Which I think leaves a bitter taste IMHO and really hurts your otherwise gorgeous designed and nicely done app.
I totally agree, my Macbook is on its last legs so the fan went crazy, putting up a new video now (52%) :)
Glad you like the rest of it !
This is great! While I love Flinto (just bought in for a year), syncing with Dropbox and having prototypes update automatically seems like a much better workflow. And for free no less.
That's why I wanted to make it, with Dropbox + PSD support, you can make a designers life so much easier, that's what it's all about :)
Hey! I love this idea. Tried to sign up & got stuck at the "confirm your details" step... not sure what I'm doing wrong?
Edit – did it in incognito & got through fine... not sure what happened, probably a fault on my end instead of yours. Cheers!
Hey, that doesn't sound good! I'll look into it now! Let me know what you think!
Same here...
Hey Charlie, can you try now?
Good to go! :)
