Colm! thanks for the feedback. This site is very much hacked together, so the experience definitely needs tweaking and clarification. I actually used my dad to test the navigation. I reasoned if Hans could get through without leaving in utter frustration a reasonable amount of folks wouldn't hate it. I was afraid that some people wouldn't get it, and am still working on ways to better communicate that weird slide metaphor.

The goal of my resume was to differentiate myself from abundance of that simple & minimal look I see so often among young designers (which I appreciate, but I need to separate the product (me) from the rest of the market). So I went with the kind of crazy visual overstimulation you see in the advertising pages in old boys magazines. Yes its kind of ugly and unreadable but I'd say the document as a whole is trying to be the message, rather than the content of the resume itself.

Rationale (esp. post-rationale) rarely works for defending design tho!

Thank you for your considerate feedback.

I really liked your site, but this comment is what tells me how good a designer you are. Knowing how to accept and embrace criticism, and being able to explain and justify your decisions, those are some stellar qualities — and increasingly rare ones at that. Kudos to you, my friend!
