Framer has a steep learning curve, for sure. But it's like playing the guitar, give it some effort and the rewards will be massive.
Framer is only constrained by the browser rendering the prototype, you can use all the APIs available in the browser. I would never use Framer for a very simple prototype, but I've used it for advanced prototypes that needed database connections, camera access and web speech.
I would highly recommend Framercasts, if you're willing to give Framer a second chance.
