Adding RAM is the quickest and cheapest way to improve performance.

  The RAM doesn't provide much of an improvement compared to the boost an SSD can give you.

      On that I cannot advise you - my computer came with and SSD so I never had to shop for one. There should be plenty of reviews and best SSDs lists online though.
