Why not use the symbol resizing features to keep elements in a certain position as you resize them?
Here's an example of keeping a text layer a fixed distance from the edge as the object is resized.

  The group resizing features are really nice in Sketch, but I find it to be more work than is worth, especially when trying to mock things up really quickly and iterate on different sizes for things.
  Here's a video comparison of how easy it is to do this work in Illustrator versus Sketch (before group resizing):
