Why is Microsoft so uncreative with the Windows UI design?(quora.com)

    I don't agree with the question and I think the answer was fantastic.

    The Windows GUI is significantly easier to use compared to anything out there:

    • Common tasks are more readily accessible.
    • Since Windows 8/10 the GUI adapts gracefully and in surprising ways
    • Live tiles are an amazing integration of live information, application icon and widget
    • The ribbon pattern that we see in so many applications was first implemented in Office

    I guess it depends on what you define as creative. I could go on, and on...but I honestly feel of the OSes that the Windows GUI is the better designed of the bunch. And as the person answering stated Windows actually led the flat design trend. #hipstermicrosoft

    I was a Linux user for many years, and now I'm a Mac OS user for work, and personal use. My current choice is 100% because of the applications. I think the Mac OS GUI itself is a weird collection of disjointed design patterns. If applications like Sketch, and Flinto/Principle/Framerjs etc were available on Windows as well I'd probably be sitting cheaply, and happily on a Windows machine.

      I had basically the same reaction after installing Windows 10 via Boot Camp, it's come a long way in terms of design. The privacy issues though...

      I totally agree. Microsoft has a very unique look and feel and I think it has a ton more personality than Mac OS. To say that it isn't creative is a huge overstatement. I still think they lack in micro interactions and an optimized feel for the system as a whole though.
