I think I'm just going to start taking my tax return and using it to help purchase yearly subscriptions of all the junk I've got now: Adobe, Spotify, Dropbox, etc.
Those should all be tax write offs anyway. Those are business expenses.
How is Spotify a business expense?
I personally can't work without music; It's like a pencil, speakers or even the lamp on your desk.
Doesn't make it a business expense. That's a personal preference.
If it helps you get the job done then it is a business expense.
Nope. Still not a business expense
Please?
If they decide to provide a Spotify account great but it would be filed as a perk not a business expense. Unless of course the company relied on Spotify to operate.
That's not how business expenses work. I own the company and the office plays Spotify in it. The subscription is tied to my work email. We play it all day. It's a business expense, just like the internet, Trello, Slack, etc.
It's a write-off, Jerry.
We play Spotify on speakers in our office all day. Just like the speaker was a business expense, the monthly subscription for the Spotify account is too.
Oh wow. I want to work at your office. My company doesn't pay for Spotify. But we are old school large company so. I'm assuming you're at a startup?
Not like Spotify costs $200 a month. Save two Starbucks for it.
It's a studio I run.
I guess it varies. I work on a small corporate digital team for a large radio/publishing company. A request for a Spotify sub would yield sideways looks. But it would be awesome to have that paid for.
If $10/month is too much to boost team morale, well, now you know how they feel about you.
They aren't going to pay for my Spotify subscription. It doesn't mean they don't appreciate my employment.
I see your point though. We definitely work at different types of companies.
I would rather they keep the price where it is and use the profits on products like this. Hell, I would happily pay a bit more my Adobe subscription is this ends up being a Sketch/Flinto/Invision combination.
Totally!

Wouldn't hurt if they lowered the price of subscription a bit.
